Aqua One Decorative Gravel 2kg Purple 7mm

Description

Aqua One Decorative Gravel 2kg Purple 7mm — Deep purple 7 mm gravel for themed betta, goldfish and nano tanks

Purple is the colour that makes a white or yellow fish stand out, and it is the shade that pairs with pink, white and black gravels without clashing. Aqua One Decorative Gravel 2kg Purple 7mm (SKU: 10283P) is the 2 kg bag of Aqua One’s coloured gravel in Purple, a solid, even tone in the 7 mm grade. Aqua One sells the Purple colour in three bag sizes, 1 kg (10282P), 2 kg (10283P) and 5 kg (10284P), all at 7 mm, and describes the whole range as aquarium-safe gravel in designer colours. This bag is the one to reach for when a betta tank, a small goldfish set-up or a themed children’s aquarium needs a complete floor in one colour.

The 7 mm grain is coarse enough to leave gaps between the stones, so detritus drops into the bed where a gravel cleaner can reach it rather than sitting on top, and the grains are heavy enough to stay in the tank when the vacuum passes over. Coloured gravel of this kind runs at roughly 1.5 kg per litre, which puts a 2 kg bag at about 1.3 L of gravel: a 2 cm bed across a 30 × 20 cm nano, or a border and feature patch in something bigger. Aqua One lists the gravel as suitable for coldwater and freshwater tropical aquariums and suggests the same bag for pot plants, fountains and candle holders. A rinse in a bucket before use clears the dust that comes with any bagged gravel.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Betta and nano tanks: A full purple floor from one 2 kg bag in a tank up to about 30 cm long.
• Two-tone designs: Purple laid against pink, white or black gravel for a striped or checked floor.
• Light-coloured fish: A dark, saturated background that shows off white, gold and yellow fish.
• Craft and decor: Candle holders, vases and pot plants, as Aqua One suggests.

Substrate & Placement Guide

• Wash the dust out: Rinse in a bucket, stirring by hand, until the run-off is clear.
• Bed depth: Aim for 2–3 cm in a small tank; deeper beds trap more waste than a small filter can cope with.
• Fill gently: Pour water onto a plate or bag laid over the gravel so the colours are not stirred into a jumble.
• Clean in place: Vacuum a section of the bed at each water change rather than lifting the gravel out.
