Spectra Aqua Helios M018-90 — Six-channel Wi-Fi reef LED for 60 to 90 cm marine aquariums

A reef light has to work as a spectrum tool, a timer and a heat-management system at once, and Spectra builds the Aqua Helios as a modular unit so that each part can be serviced separately. Spectra Aqua Helios M018-90 (SKU: SM01890) is the 90 cm model of Spectra Aquarium’s marine LED fixture, a light made by the Dongguan, China maker and formerly sold as the Aqua Sanrise Plus R90. It carries 72 Cree XT-E and XP-E LEDs for up to 264 W, split across six colour channels. Control is by touch pad on the fixture or from a free iOS and Android app over Wi-Fi, and several units can be driven together. Adjustable stands and a hanging kit are both included.

The six channels are white (24 LEDs, 7000–8300 K), royal blue (24 LEDs, 450–465 nm), blue (10 LEDs, 465–485 nm), violet (5 LEDs, 420–430 nm) with UV (4 LEDs, 400–410 nm), red (2 LEDs, 620–630 nm) and green (3 LEDs, 520–535 nm). A 3-in-1 lens with 97% transmittance is fitted, and Spectra offers 90° or 120° secondary optics. Smart fans run on a temperature control, the housing is aluminium, and a Meanwell power supply feeds the unit at AC 110–240 V. The LED clusters, lenses and fans are modular and plug in, which Spectra says makes service easy. The body measures about 860 × 205 mm, and Spectra quotes thickness as 23.5 mm in its feature list and 31 mm in its specification table. Spectra rates it for tanks of 60 to 90 cm, with more units for longer tanks, and gives a 12-month warranty.

When to Use

Installation & Setup Guide

• Mount the fixture: Fit the adjustable stands on the tank rim, or hang it above the water with the hanging kit.
• Connect power: Plug in the Meanwell supply and confirm the plug suits the local socket.
• Set the channels: Use the touch pad, or join the fixture from the Spectra app and set each channel.
• Ramp up gradually: Start with low intensities and raise them over several weeks as livestock adjust.
