Description
Aquael Leddy Slim 32w Actinic White 80-100cm — Flat LED bar for reef tanks 80 to 100 cm long
A reef tank under daylight-only lighting loses the glow that makes coral fluoresce, and most all-in-one fixtures mix in blue without letting the two spectrums be judged separately. Aquael Leddy Slim 32w Actinic White 80-100cm (SKU: 102404) is the 32 W size of Aquael’s open-tank Leddy Slim line, built for marine and reef aquariums from about 80 to 100 cm long (Aquael’s own spec sheet extends the fit to 107 cm). It runs both a white marine diode row rated around 10,000 K, for the daytime viewing colour and the light zooxanthellae use for photosynthesis, and an actinic row at roughly 20,000 K, which drives coral fluorescence and the blue cast associated with reef lighting. The flat body sits directly on the glass on sliding brackets, so one lamp covers both standard tank lengths and odd sizes within its range.
Aquael pairs the two colour channels on independent timing so they can run on different schedules: white light through the main midday period and actinic extended either side of it to mimic sunrise and sunset, a combination reef keepers commonly stage across 8 to 10 hours of white and 10 to 14 hours of actinic. The housing is built from corrosion-resistant materials suited to saltwater splash, and Aquael states the Leddy Slim line runs at roughly half the energy draw of an equivalent fluorescent tube while lasting several times longer. For hanging rather than resting on the glass, the separate Leddy Slim Hanger kit suits this 32 W size.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Reef and marine display tanks: Open-top aquariums from about 80 to 100 cm long needing both daylight and actinic colour.
- Coral fluorescence viewing: Switching to actinic-only for the blue glow coral and anemones show under UV-leaning light.
- Odd or custom tank lengths: Sliding brackets adjust to lengths that a fixed-width fixture would not fit.
- Replacing a T5 or T8 marine fixture: Moving an 80 to 100 cm system from fluorescent to LED without changing the stand or hood.
How to Use / Installation Process
- Extend the brackets: Slide the arms out to match the tank’s rim width before lowering the lamp into place.
- Set independent timers: Run white and actinic on separate schedules, or on one timer for a simpler sunrise-to-sunset cycle.
- Wipe down regularly: Clean salt creep off the housing and lens to keep both diode rows at full output.
- Fit the hanger kit if suspending: Use Aquael’s Leddy Slim Hanger for ceiling mounting instead of the glass-rim brackets.
