Description
Aquael Leddy Slim 32w Marine White 80-100cm — Daylight-spectrum LED bar for open marine tanks 80 to 100 cm
An open marine tank still needs a strong daylight-white light even where the keeper has no interest in the blue actinic glow a dedicated reef lamp adds. Aquael Leddy Slim 32w Marine White 80-100cm (SKU: 102405) is the white-only marine version of Aquael’s Leddy Slim line, rated at around 10,000 K to match the colour that supports zooxanthellae photosynthesis in corals and renders fish and invertebrate colours clearly, built for open tanks from about 80 to 100 cm long (Aquael’s spec sheet extends the sliding brackets to 107 cm). At 32 W, this is the smaller of the two full-length Marine White sizes in the range, sitting below the 36 W, 100-120 cm version.
The lamp mounts on sliding brackets that rest on the glass rim and extend to fit non-standard lengths within its range, and Aquael builds the body from corrosion-resistant, easy-to-clean materials suited to saltwater splash. The flat, low-profile design keeps the lamp close to the water surface rather than raised on a tall fixture, which Aquael says keeps light loss to a minimum over an open tank. Aquael states the Leddy Slim range runs at around half the energy of an equivalent fluorescent tube and keeps a consistent output over a far longer service life than fluorescent lighting, without the gradual half-brightness fade fluorescent tubes show after about a year. For keepers wanting the blue actinic channel as well, the same-size Actinic White lamp in this range is built to run alongside it on independent timing, and the Leddy Slim Hanger kit suits this 32 W size for ceiling mounting.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Fish-only marine systems: Tanks where daylight colour matters more than actinic blue.
- Reef tanks pairing with an actinic lamp: Running Marine White alongside a separate Actinic White unit on its own timer.
- 80 to 100 cm open tanks: Sliding brackets fit this length range and non-standard sizes within it.
- Replacing a fluorescent marine tube: Moving from T5 or T8 fluorescent to LED without changing the stand.
How to Use / Installation Process
- Extend the brackets to the rim width: Slide the arms out before lowering the lamp into position.
- Run on a standard daylight timer: 8 to 10 hours is a common starting point for marine white lighting.
- Clean salt creep regularly: Wipe the housing and lens to keep output consistent over time.
- Add the hanger kit for suspension: Fit the 32 W Leddy Slim Hanger if ceiling mounting is preferred over the glass-rim brackets.
