Aquael Leddy Slim 5w Plant White 20-30cm

Description

Aquael Leddy Slim 5w Plant White 20-30cm — Compact planted-tank LED bar for nano aquariums

A nano planted tank is too short for most full-size plant lights, which leaves keepers either oversizing a lamp meant for a much longer aquarium or settling for a basic light with no plant-growth bias at all. Aquael Leddy Slim 5w Plant White 20-30cm (SKU: 102413) is the smallest size in Aquael’s Leddy Slim Plant line, built specifically for open freshwater tanks around 20 to 30 cm long, running the same Plant spectrum as the larger sizes in the range at roughly 8,000 K with the red and blue bands emphasised over green for photosynthesis. At 5 W it draws far less power than the 32 W and 36 W versions built for full-length display tanks, matched instead to the smaller volume of water a nano tank holds.

The lamp’s flat, futuristic housing comes in white, and the same shape is also sold in black for keepers who want the body to disappear against a dark cabinet or background. It mounts on universal sliding brackets that fit both standard and non-standard tank widths within its range; Aquael’s hanger compatibility is stated for the 32 W and 36 W sizes rather than this smallest 5 W unit, so a rim-mounted fit is the standard option here. Aquael describes the Plant version’s self-repair design as extra LEDs, inactive when the lamp is new, that switch on automatically if one of the primary diodes fails, so output does not simply dim as the lamp ages. Light requirements vary by species, and the maker notes that a 5 W Plant lamp over a nano tank still needs to be matched to how demanding the chosen plants are.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Nano planted tanks: Open freshwater tanks around 20 to 30 cm long where a full-length lamp would be oversized.
• Low to moderate light plants: Species that do not need the output of a 32 W or 36 W Plant lamp.
• Desktop aquascapes: A compact fixture matched to a small tank’s footprint and power draw.
• Custom or odd tank widths: Universal sliding brackets adjust within the 20 to 30 cm range.

How to Use / Installation Process

• Extend the brackets to the rim: Slide the arms out to match the tank’s width before fitting the lamp.
• Match the photoperiod to the plants: Run 8 to 10 hours as a starting point and adjust for the species kept.
• Watch for algae in a small volume: A nano tank responds quickly to excess light; trim hours back if algae appears.
• Consider the hanger kit on 32W/36W lamps only: This 5 W size is not listed as hanger-compatible by Aquael.
