Aquael Leddy Smart 4.8w Plant & Night Black

Description

Aquael Leddy Smart 4.8w Plant & Night Black — Clip-on nano light with a plant-growth spectrum and moonlight mode

A small planted nano tank needs more than a basic daylight clip light if the plants are expected to actually grow, and most nano-sized lamps are built for viewing rather than photosynthesis. Aquael Leddy Smart 4.8w Plant & Night Black (SKU: 113254) is the Plant-spectrum version of Aquael’s Leddy Smart clip-on light, built for small freshwater planted tanks up to about 50 L and 35 cm tall, with a slide-on arm that clips directly onto the glass edge up to 6 mm thick. Where the Day & Night Sunny version in the same range is built for general viewing, this Plant & Night model runs a growth-biased spectrum rated at around 350 lumens and 9,000 K, which Aquael says can support rapid plant growth in a small tank.

The same three-mode system as the rest of the Leddy Smart line is built in: DAY runs the full Plant-spectrum output for the main photosynthetic period, DAYBREAK halves that output and adds blue light for a gentler start or end to the day, and NIGHT switches to a dim blue glow for watching the tank after the plants’ lighting period ends. Modes switch manually on the lamp or, for scheduled use, through Aquael’s separately sold app-controlled SOCKET link DUO socket. Aquael rates the LEDs at up to 15,000 hours and the lamp at 4.8 W, with the same slim, roughly 1 cm-thick black housing as the rest of the range, so it adds growth-focused light without a bulkier fixture over a small, heavily planted tank.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Small planted nano tanks: Freshwater tanks up to 50 L and 35 cm tall where plant growth matters, not just viewing.
• Carpeting and foreground plants: Species that benefit from the Plant spectrum’s growth-biased output.
• Day-to-night viewing: Switching to a dim blue glow for evening viewing once the plant-growth period ends.
• Dark-themed aquascapes: A black body suited to a dark cabinet or black-rimmed nano tank.

How to Use / Installation Process

• Slide the arm onto the glass: Clip the lamp directly onto the tank’s top edge, glass up to 6 mm thick.
• Run DAY mode for photosynthesis: Use the full 350-lumen Plant spectrum through the main growing hours.
• Ease in and out with DAYBREAK: Use the 50%-power blue-tinted setting at the edges of the day.
• Watch algae with a growth-biased spectrum: Keep the photoperiod moderate in a small tank, since excess Plant-spectrum light can favour algae over the plants.
