A 75 to 100 cm display tank in a living room is usually watched well into the evening, which is exactly when a plain daylight tube is at its least useful. Aquael Leddy Tube Sunny 14w Day & Night (SKU: 113198) is the mid-size module in Aquael’s Leddy Tube Sunny 2.0 range, a 700 mm LED tube rated at 14 W, 7000 K and about 1270 lm, running Aquael’s universal SUNNY spectrum. It is a direct LED retrofit sized for the Leddy 75, Glossy 80 and Glossy 100 hoods, rather than a stand-alone fixture.

The tube cycles through the same three modes as the rest of the Sunny range: DAY at full 1270 lm brightness, DAYBREAK at around half power with added blue for the transition either side of daylight, and NIGHT as a dim blue glow suited to a lounge room tank that still gets looked at after the main lights go off. Switching the tube off and on again within five seconds steps to the next mode, and a break of more than five seconds resets the sequence to DAY; the separately sold SOCKET Link Duo controller can run the cycle on a schedule instead. For an older T5 or T8 fluorescent hood in the 820 to 950 mm range rather than a Leddy fitting, Aquael’s T5/T8 retrofit adapters bring this tube up to size, and the module carries Aquael’s two-year warranty.
