Most gravel cleaners are started by sucking on a hose, and nobody enjoys that. Fluval Gravel Cleaner Small 25cm (SKU: MGC02) is the small size of the Fluval EasyVac, a siphon-powered substrate cleaner with Quick-Start priming: submerge the tube and a simple shaking motion engages the flow. The oval 25 cm (10 in) tube has a narrow design that Fluval says makes cleaning hard-to-reach areas a breeze, an integrated gravel guard stops substrate blocking the tube, and the 1.8 m (6 ft) non-kink hose runs to a bucket on the floor. It needs no power, no pump bulb and no batteries.

The hose ends in Fluval’s 2-in-1 bucket clip, which hooks the hose onto the bucket rim and doubles as the flow valve, with three positions: Open for maximum water output, Reduced for detailed cleaning around plants and decor, and Closed to pause the flow while the tube is moved. Fluval recommends the EasyVac for all substrates in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, and the 25 cm Small suits nano and small tanks where a long tube would be awkward. Usage & Application

When to Use

• Weekly water changes: Drain and clean the gravel in one step, removing waste as the water leaves.
• Nano and small aquariums: Tanks up to roughly 40 cm tall where the 25 cm tube reaches the substrate without plunging your arm in.
• Planted and decorated tanks: The oval tube and Reduced setting work between plants and around hardscape.
• Freshwater or marine: Any substrate, gravel or sand, in either water type.

How to Use

• Set up the bucket: Place a bucket below tank level and hook the 2-in-1 clip over its rim with the valve Open.
• Start the siphon: Submerge the tube fully and shake it up and down until water flows down the hose.
• Work the substrate: Push the tube into the gravel; debris lifts away while the gravel guard keeps stones in the tank. Switch to Reduced near plants.
• Pause and finish: Close the valve to move the tube, and lift it out once about 20 to 30 per cent of the water is removed.
