Description
JBL Aqua-t Triump Glass Scraper — Stainless-bladed algae scraper for large aquarium glass panes
Hard green-spot algae on the front pane does not come off with a pad, and reaching across a big tank with a razor blade on its own is awkward and risky. JBL Aqua-t Triump Glass Scraper (SKU: 112962) is JBL’s larger pane cleaner in the Aqua-T range, built around a wide, replaceable steel blade mounted on a handle long enough to work a big display without submerging an arm to the shoulder. A rubber scraper on the opposite face doubles as a protective cap over the blade when the tool is out of the water, so it can be put down on a bench without the edge being exposed. JBL rates the Triumph as saltwater resistant, so the same tool moves between a reef sump and a planted freshwater tank.
The blade is about 14 cm wide, which clears a broad swathe of glass in each pass and suits display tanks where a narrow handheld scraper would mean many more strokes. JBL sells the Aqua-T range in two sizes; the Triumph is the larger of the two, with a smaller Aqua-T Handy model for nano tanks and tight corners. Blades are a separate, replaceable part, sold as the JBL Aqua-T Triumph Spare Blades 5pk, and the tool is designed so the blade swaps out within seconds rather than needing the whole scraper replaced. The scraper is light in the hand, which helps on long cleaning sessions across a large aquarium front.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Large display tanks: Front and side panes where a wide blade clears algae in fewer passes.
- Green-spot and coralline: Hard growth that a scrubber pad will not shift on its own.
- Freshwater or marine: One scraper for a reef sump and a planted tank alike.
- Routine weekly cleaning: Alongside water changes, before the glass builds up a heavy film.
Cleaning Technique Guide
- Work in overlapping strokes: Draw the wide blade across the pane so each pass slightly overlaps the last.
- Use the rubber face for film algae: Flip to the scraper’s other side for lighter, everyday cleaning.
- Keep the blade flat to the glass: Avoid angling it into the pane, which can mark acrylic.
- Cap it when not in use: The rubber scraper doubles as a guard over the exposed blade.
