Public aquariums and very large display tanks often run glass or acrylic panes thick enough that most hobby-grade cleaners cannot grip through them at all. Mag-float Pro (l210 X W90 X H35mm) (SKU: BM100495) is the professional-grade size at the top of Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s Mag-Float range, built for glass and acrylic surfaces 38 to 51 mm (1.5 to 2 in) thick and sized for aquariums of around 1000 US gallons (about 3785 litres) and up. At 210 x 89 x 35 mm it is the largest cleaner in the range by a wide margin, with specially rated neodymium magnets strong enough to hold a stable grip through that thickness of viewing pane. The outer half is moved by hand along the outside of the glass or acrylic, and the inner half, carrying the scrubbing pad, follows it on the inside to lift algae without a hand going into the water.

A dedicated replacement pad and felt set (SKU BM201001) is sold for the Pro, since the scrubbing surface and outer felt wear with repeated use on this scale of tank and are designed to be peeled off and replaced rather than discarding the whole unit. The housing uses the same non-toxic ABS plastic as the rest of the Mag-Float range,. As with the smaller sizes, the inner half is buoyant: if it separates from the outer magnet it rises to the surface rather than sinking, which matters more on a tank this size, where the substrate may be well out of reach from above. The Pro suits both freshwater and marine systems and is the size to specify once a tank’s glass or acrylic exceeds the 30 mm ceiling of the Xlarge.
