A scraper blade dulls and pits long before the rest of the cleaner wears out, and swapping the blade rather than the whole unit is the cheaper, intended fix. Mag-float Replacement Scraper (2/pk) – Suits Lge/lge+ (SKU: BM100458) is Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s genuine replacement blade set for the Mag-float Scrape Lge (SKU BM100494) and Scrape Lge+ (SKU BM100497) cleaners, sold as two stainless steel blades per pack. The blades are the removable, replaceable type fitted inside the Scrape range’s inner magnet half, designed to lift coralline algae and hardened mineral deposits that a scrubbing pad on its own will not shift.

Fitment is specific to the Large and Large+ Scrape models; the blades are not sized for the Small/Long replacement scraper or for the standard, non-scraper Mag-Float sizes, which have no blade slot at all. They are intended for glass aquariums only, since the metal edge is not acrylic-safe. Stainless steel resists corrosion well, but, as with any stainless hardware left in saltwater, rinsing the blade in freshwater and drying it after use helps it last, particularly where chloride levels run high in a marine system. Replace a blade once the edge has dulled to the point where it drags rather than lifts deposits cleanly, which on a regularly used Scrape cleaner is typically every few months rather than years.
