The newer Small and Long Mag-Floats, built with side rails, can take a scraper blade for the occasional hard deposit a scrubbing pad alone will not clear, and that blade wears out long before the magnet does. Mag-float Replacement Scraper (2/pk) – Suits Sml/long (SKU: BM100459) is Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s genuine replacement blade set for the side-rail Mag-float Small (SKU BM100470) and Long (SKU BM100480), sold as two stainless steel blades per pack. The blades fit only the newer side-rail cleaners; earlier Mag-Floats without rails have no blade holder to take them.

Because the blades are steel, they are intended for glass aquariums only and should be kept off acrylic surfaces, where a metal edge can leave a mark. Stainless steel copes well with ordinary use, but 316L-grade steel left wet in a marine system’s chloride- and bromide-rich water will eventually corrode, so rinsing a blade in freshwater and drying it after use is worth the few seconds it takes. The Small and Long are the lighter end of the range, rated for glass 4 to 10 mm thick, so the blade only has to deal with light coralline and the odd mineral mark rather than heavy deposits. A blade is worth changing once it starts dragging over deposits instead of lifting them cleanly, a sign the edge has dulled from routine scraping. Fitting is a simple slide-out, slide-in swap with no tools. This pack is specific to the Small and Long sizes; the Large and Large+ Scrape cleaners use a different blade.

Installation & Replacement Guide

• Rinse after saltwater use: Rinse in freshwater and dry to help prevent corrosion.
• Keep the spare dry: Store the unused second blade until it is needed.
