Past a certain tank size the glass is thick enough that a scrubbing pad alone struggles with coralline and hardened mineral deposits, and that is the point at which a built-in scraper earns its place. Mag-float Xlarge (l150 X W60 X H30mm) (SKU: BM100492) is the extra-large size in Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s Mag-Float range, rated for glass 20 to 30 mm thick and suited to aquariums of up to roughly 1890 litres. Unlike the Small, Long and standard Large sizes, the Xlarge is fitted with a scraper holder and blade alongside the usual scrubbing pad, so it is built to handle both everyday algae film and tougher deposits in the one unit. The outer magnet is moved by hand across the outside of the glass, and the inner half, carrying the pad and scraper, follows it on the inside.

A dedicated replacement pad and felt set (SKU BM200501) is sold for this size once the scrubbing surfaces wear down, and the supplied plastic spacer should sit between the two magnet halves whenever the cleaner is stored or left unused for a stretch, to take pressure off the pad. Dimensions overall run to about 155 x 60 x 60 mm across both halves. If the magnet halves separate in use, the inner half floats to the surface rather than dropping onto the substrate. It is built for glass aquariums in both freshwater and marine systems.
