Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Large – Suits 100490/494 (lge)

Description

Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Large – Suits 100490/494 (lge) — Replacement scrubbing pad and felt for the Mag-Float Large and Scrape Large

A Mag-Float Large that no longer lifts algae cleanly is usually down to a worn pad rather than a weak magnet, and the fix is a new pad and felt rather than a new cleaner. Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Large – Suits 100490/494 (lge) (SKU: BM200351) is Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s replacement set sized for the Mag-float Large (SKU BM100490) and the Mag-float Scrape Lge (SKU BM100494), since the two cleaners share the same housing size and take the same pad and felt. The pack contains one algae-scrubbing pad for the inner magnet and one felt pad, marked with the Mag-Float logo, for the outer magnet, so a full refresh needs only this one set whichever of the two Large cleaners it is fitted to.

Fitting follows the standard Mag-Float procedure: strip the old pad or felt from the plastic housing, clean off any leftover adhesive with mineral spirits on a cloth while wearing gloves, let the surface dry completely, then fit the new piece by peeling the backing paper back gradually and pressing it down as it comes away, which keeps air bubbles from forming between the pad and the housing. The set is for glass aquariums in freshwater or marine use. It is sized for the Large housing and does not fit the smaller Mini, Small or Long cleaners or the larger Xlarge; a separate set (SKU BM200126) is sold for the Long.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Worn or hardened pad: Algae no longer lifts cleanly from the glass.
• Missing or torn felt: The outer magnet risks marking the tank without its felt covering.
• Shared fit: One set services either the Large or the Scrape Large cleaner.
• Large glass tanks: Matched to the glass aquariums up to about 1325 L this size is built for.

Installation & Replacement Guide

• Remove the old piece: Peel the worn pad or felt off without damaging the housing underneath.
• Clean the glue away: Use mineral spirits on a cloth to clear old adhesive, with gloves on.
• Dry fully first: Confirm the surface is completely dry before fitting the replacement.
• Press on gradually: Peel the backing a little at a time to avoid trapping air under the pad.
