Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Medium – Suits 100480 (long)

Description

Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Medium – Suits 100480 (long) — Replacement scrubbing pad and felt for the Mag-Float Long cleaner

The scrubbing surface on a Mag-Float cleaner wears from repeated contact with algae and glass long before the magnets inside lose their grip, and the parts are designed to be peeled off and replaced rather than the whole cleaner thrown out. Mag Float Pad & Felt Set Medium – Suits 100480 (long) (SKU: BM200126) is Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s replacement set for the Mag-float Long cleaner (SKU BM100480, listed by the maker as the Medium, item 00125), supplied as one algae-scrubbing pad and one felt pad in the one pack. The pad, which carries no Mag-Float logo, goes on the inner magnet that scrubs the glass; the felt, marked with the Mag-Float logo, goes on the outer magnet that runs along the outside of the tank.

Both pieces are adhesive-backed and are fitted by removing the old pad or felt, cleaning any leftover glue from the plastic housing with mineral spirits on a cloth, letting the surface dry fully, then peeling back a quarter of the new piece’s backing and pressing it on as the rest of the backing paper is removed, which avoids trapping air bubbles between the pad and the housing. The set is for the Long housing and suits both freshwater and marine use. A matching set is sold for the Mag-float Large (SKU BM200351), since the Long and Large cleaners use differently sized housings and the pads are not interchangeable between them.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Worn scrubbing pad: Algae no longer lifts cleanly or the pad has visibly thinned.
• Frayed or missing felt: The outer magnet starts to mark the glass without its felt backing.
• Routine servicing: Keeping a spare set on hand for a Mag-Float Long in regular use.
• Medium tanks: Suited to the aquariums of up to about 475 L this cleaner size is built for.

Installation & Replacement Guide

• Strip the old piece: Remove the worn pad or felt fully without damaging the plastic housing.
• Clean the surface: Wipe away leftover adhesive with mineral spirits on a cloth, wearing gloves.
• Let it dry: Make sure the plastic surface is completely dry before fitting the new piece.
• Fit gradually: Peel the backing a quarter at a time and press down as the rest is removed, to avoid air bubbles.
