Mag Float Pad & Felt Set X-large – Suits 100492 (xl)

Description

Mag Float Pad & Felt Set X-large – Suits 100492 (xl) — Replacement scrubbing pad and felt for the Mag-Float Xlarge cleaner

A cleaner built for glass up to 30 mm thick does more work per pass than the smaller sizes in the Mag-Float range, and that shows up first in the scrubbing pad rather than anywhere else. Mag Float Pad & Felt Set X-large – Suits 100492 (xl) (SKU: BM200501) is Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium’s replacement set for the Mag-float Xlarge (SKU BM100492), containing one algae-scrubbing pad for the inner magnet and one felt pad, marked with the Mag-Float logo, for the outer magnet. Replacing the pair rather than discarding the whole cleaner keeps the Xlarge’s scraper and magnet assembly in service, since those parts generally outlast the scrubbing surfaces.

Fitting follows the same procedure as the rest of the Mag-Float range: lift off the old pad or felt, clean any remaining adhesive from the plastic housing with mineral spirits on a cloth while wearing gloves, let the surface dry out fully, then fit the replacement by peeling its backing away a little at a time and pressing the pad down as it goes, to keep air bubbles from forming underneath. This set is sized for the Xlarge housing and is not listed for the Large, Large Plus or Pro cleaners. It is intended for glass aquariums and suits either freshwater or marine systems.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Worn scrubbing surface: The pad no longer lifts algae cleanly on a large, thick-glass tank.
• Frayed felt: The outer magnet risks marking the glass without an intact felt cover.
• Xlarge owners: The dedicated replacement set for this size of cleaner.
• Tanks to about 1890 L: Matched to the large glass aquariums the Xlarge is rated for.

Installation & Replacement Guide

• Remove the old piece: Take off the worn pad or felt without damaging the housing.
• Clean off old glue: Use mineral spirits on a cloth to clear the plastic surface, with gloves on.
• Dry completely: Confirm the surface is fully dry before the new pad or felt goes on.
• Fit gradually: Peel the backing paper away a little at a time while pressing the piece into place.
