Description
Seachem Duo Algae Pad 25mm Thick (1 Pack) — Dual-Action Non-Scratch Scrubbing Sponge Pad With Melamine For Cleaning Glass and Acrylic Aquarium Walls
The Seachem Duo Algae Pad “1 Pack” (SKU: 725159-3201) is a dual-action, non-scratch scrubbing pad designed to clean glass and acrylic aquarium walls. Featuring a thick 25mm ergonomic foam profile, this cleaning pad allows hobbyists to apply firm, comfortable pressure against aquarium panels without slipping or straining hands during maintenance. It is particularly effective at removing algae from scratches. It is chemically inert and does not use soaps or detergents. Its white colour contrasts against dark algae, making it easier to see when areas are fully clean.
The Seachem DuoPad™ is a non-scratch, dual-surface algae pad for glass & acrylic. The melamine foam side uses micro-abrasive technology to easily remove algae from the sides of your aquarium, while the durable scrubbing side allows you to attack the rougher grooves of rocks and driftwood.
The pad combines two specialised cleaning surfaces: a coarse micro-abrasive side that lifts stubborn green spot algae and tough diatoms, and a soft melamine foam side that buffs away soft film and water spots. Completely chemical-free, the Duo Algae Pad is safe for sensitive freshwater and marine displays. Melamine foam is an incredibly effective abrasive cleaner. It has a microstructure as hard as glass, but because of its open-cell structure, it remains flexible. It performs on stains a lot like extremely fine sandpaper. In the aquarium, it easily removes algae by scraping with its extremely hard microscopic filaments.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Routine Panel Cleaning: Cleans algae film, diatoms, and green spot algae from glass and acrylic surfaces.
- Acrylic Tank Maintenance: Safely removes soft algae without scratching delicate acrylic walls.
- Outer Glass Polishing: Buffs away water spots and finger smudges on exterior viewing panels.
Maintenance & Cleaning Guide
- Step 1: Wet the pad thoroughly with aquarium water before scrubbing viewing panels.
- Step 2: Use the coarse textured side for stubborn spot algae; flip to the soft melamine side for fine film.
