Description

Vac A Tank Gravel Cleaner 60cm 24in — Long-reach siphon gravel cleaner for deep display aquariums

Cleaning the gravel of a tall display with a short siphon means a sleeve soaked to the shoulder and a hand among the fish. Vac A Tank Gravel Cleaner 60cm 24in (SKU: 20140) is the longest of the six Aqua One Vac A Tank sizes, with a 60 cm (24 in) tube that reaches the bottom of a deep aquarium while the hand holding it stays above the water. Like the rest of the range it is a siphon cleaner: water drawn down the tube lifts waste out of the substrate and carries it down the hose to a bucket, so the gravel is cleaned and the water change done in the same job. Aqua One lists it as cleaning gravel of waste, an aid to essential water changes, and low flow for aquariums and all gravel sizes.

Retail listings for the range describe a quick-start siphon, a non-kink hose, and an aquatic-safe, lightweight and portable build, with no power or batteries needed. Choose the 60 cm for tanks with deep water over the substrate, roughly 45 cm or more, such as 60 cm high aquariums, deep-format tanks like the 53 cm high AquaSys or tall column tanks; in a shallow tank the length becomes awkward, and the 25 cm (20138) or the extendable 23 to 40 cm (20135) are easier to handle. Because the flow is low, the long tube can be worked slowly over a planted foreground without draining a large tank faster than the gravel can be covered. Retailer guidance for the range is to remove 25 to 30 per cent of the water, then refill and treat it with a conditioner such as Aqua One’s. Rinse the tube and hose in clean water afterwards and hang them to drain.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Deep display tanks: Reaches the bottom of 55 to 60 cm tall aquariums without wet sleeves.
  • Large water changes: A long tube for big volumes.
  • Planted foregrounds: Low flow for careful work around plants.
  • Any gravel grade: Fine to coarse, per Aqua One.

How to Use

  • Set the bucket low: Run the hose into a bucket well below the tank.
  • Start the flow: Submerge the tube and use the quick-start siphon as shown on the pack.
  • Work in sections: Push the tube into the gravel, let the debris rise, then move along.
  • Change 25 to 30 per cent: Refill with conditioned water at tank temperature.
