Nisso Deco-mat White

Description

Nisso Deco-mat White — White decorative aquarium mat for a clean, bright base that makes dark fish stand out

White gives the strongest contrast of any colour, and in an aquarium it makes dark fish and green plants stand out against the background. Nisso Deco-mat White (SKU: 102805) is a decorative mat from Nisso in white, one of three Deco-mat colours, alongside lavender (SKU 102803) and yellow (SKU 102804). It is a styling accessory, not an item of equipment: it puts a plain bright surface into the aquascape, for keepers who want a minimalist, high-contrast look or a clean base for a particular group of fish.

White suits dark and richly coloured fish, such as black or blue species, and the deep green of plants looks sharper against it, so it is a natural choice for a tank built around a few striking subjects rather than a busy scene. It also gives a pale base for photography of small fish and shrimp. The drawback of white is that it shows everything: detritus, algae and fish waste are far more visible on a pale surface than on a dark one, so a white mat benefits from regular lifting and rinsing. The catalogue number for this colour is NAP-297. Rinse the mat in plain water without soap, and view it dry in the tank before adding water.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• High-contrast displays: Show off dark or deeply coloured fish against a pale surface.
• Minimalist aquascapes: Build a clean, uncluttered look around a few focal points.
• Photography: A plain pale base for photographing small fish or shrimp.
• Breeding and nano tanks: Makes eggs, fry and waste easy to see and remove.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse first: Wash the mat in clean water without soap or detergent.
• Dry-fit it: Lay it in the empty tank to check the look from the front glass.
• Keep equipment free: Do not cover heaters, intakes or outlets.
• Clean often: Lift it at water changes and rinse off detritus and algae.
