Nisso Soft Ornament Sword Large (nap-611)

Description

Nisso Soft Ornament Sword Large (nap-611) — Large artificial sword plant for background and centrepiece planting

In a big tank a single sword plant is often the structure everything else is arranged around, but a live one takes months to reach that size and then demands nutrients and root space. Nisso Soft Ornament Sword Large (nap-611) (SKU: 124664) is the large size of Nisso’s artificial sword plant in its Soft Ornament range, from the Japanese aquarium brand. It imitates the broad, lance-shaped leaves of an Echinodorus sword plant in a soft-textured form that is full size from the day it goes in and needs no light, carbon dioxide or fertiliser. It is the bigger of the two sword sizes in the store, with the Soft Ornament Sword Medium (nap-608, SKU 124662) as the smaller one.

The Large is the piece to choose for medium to large aquariums, where a smaller sword would be lost against the back glass. It works as a background plant in the rear third of the tank or as a lone centrepiece in an open layout, and it leaves room in front for the Medium sword, hairgrass or live plants at lower height. Its leaf area is bigger than the Medium’s, so it also throws more shade and gives fish a sizeable retreat. Rinse it in plain tap water before use, and place it where leaves will not be pushed against the heater, filter inlet or glass lid. Large flat leaves gather algae film and detritus, which comes off with a soft cloth or a swish in tank water during water changes. Do not use soap or household cleaners. It is decor only and does not remove nitrate or release oxygen.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Background planting: A tall, broad-leaved plant for the rear third of larger tanks.
• Centrepiece: A single large piece as the focal point of an open layout.
• Hiding places: A big leaf canopy for shy fish and species that like cover.
• Instant maturity: Full size on day one, with no weeks of waiting for live plants to establish.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse first: Plain tap water, without soap or detergent.
• Place at the rear: Position it so the leaves rise behind lower plants.
• Keep leaves clear: Check that no leaf presses on the heater, filter inlet or lid.
• Layer with the Medium: Set the smaller sword (SKU 124662) in front for depth.
