Description
Ornament Crocodile Skull 11wx23dx14cmh — Crocodile skull hide with a flat base for freshwater aquariums
Fish need somewhere to retreat that still looks deliberate rather than a random rock dropped in to fill a gap. Ornament Crocodile Skull 11wx23dx14cmh (SKU: 37485) is Aqua One’s Crocodile Skull ornament, an 11 x 23 x 14 cm piece styled on a crocodile’s skull with a hollow, recessed section that doubles as a hiding spot for fish and other tank inhabitants. It is made from non-toxic, aquarium-safe material and sits on a flat base so it stays put on gravel or sand without rocking.
The detail in the jaw and eye sockets is designed to read clearly through the glass rather than disappear among other decor, and the flat base means it can be placed directly into an aquascape without extra support or adhesive. Aqua One lists it as suitable for coldwater and tropical freshwater aquariums, and at 23 cm long it reads as a mid-size feature piece, large enough to anchor a display without needing a full rockwork set-up built around it. The piece is heavy enough to stay settled once placed, so it does not need repositioning each time the substrate is disturbed during a clean, and its scale makes it a workable centrepiece for a single-species tank built around one dominant fish that needs a defined territory.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Hiding and refuge: Fish and invertebrates that need cover from tankmates or light.
- Themed aquascapes: A skull feature for a swamp, reptile or novelty-themed tank.
- Mid-size centrepieces: A single feature piece rather than a full rock layout.
- Coldwater and tropical community tanks: One design for either water temperature.
Placement & Care Guide
- Rinse before adding: Clear dust from the surface and cavities before placing it in the tank.
- Set on the flat base: Stand it on a level patch of substrate so it doesn’t rock.
- Leave the hollow clear: Position it so fish can swim in and out of the hide freely.
- Clean during water changes: Brush algae off by hand; avoid chemical cleaners.
