Ornament Half Log 14x10x7cmh

Description

Ornament Half Log 14x10x7cmh — Hollow half-log hide for freshwater and coldwater aquariums

Fish feel exposed without any structure to retreat under, even in an otherwise well-stocked tank. Ornament Half Log 14x10x7cmh (SKU: 37892) is Aqua One’s Half Log ornament, a 14 x 10 x 7 cm hollow log section split lengthwise to form an open-fronted hide, made from non-toxic material and sized for small to mid-size community tanks. The open side lets fish swim in and settle without the piece needing to be a fully enclosed tunnel.

The log styling gives a natural look that suits a driftwood or planted aquascape as well as a plainer gravel set-up, and its compact footprint means it sits comfortably alongside other decor without dominating the tank. Aqua One describes it as safe for aquatic life, and like the rest of its ornament range it needs no special preparation beyond a rinse before use. The half-open design also makes it easier to see fish using it than a fully enclosed cave would. Because the log lies on its side with one flat face, it tends to stay in position once placed rather than rolling if the substrate is disturbed during a clean, and the open interior is large enough for more than one small fish to shelter in at once rather than suiting only a single resident. It can also be partly buried in the substrate for a more settled, embedded look if that is preferred over sitting it on top of the gravel.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Shy or territorial fish: An open-fronted hide to retreat into or claim as territory.
• Natural-style aquascapes: Log styling that pairs with driftwood or planted layouts.
• Small to mid-size tanks: A compact piece that doesn’t dominate the display.
• Breeding set-ups: A sheltered spot for fry or a spawning pair.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse before adding: Clear any dust or residue before placing it in the tank.
• Angle the opening: Face the open side toward open water so fish can enter easily.
• Keep clear of equipment: Position it away from the filter intake and heater.
• Clean during water changes: Wipe by hand rather than with chemical cleaners.
