Description

Red Sea Salt 7kg Bucket 210L — Moderate-alkalinity reef salt for nano and small marine aquariums

A 7 kg bucket is close to a year of weekly water changes on a nano reef, which is why it is the size most small-tank keepers buy first. Red Sea Salt 7kg Bucket 210ltrs (SKU: RED33) is Red Sea’s premium-grade, moderate-alkalinity salt in its smallest bucket, making about 210 L of seawater. At 35 ppt it mixes to 8 dKH alkalinity, 430 ppm calcium and 1,310 ppm magnesium, levels Red Sea describes as biologically balanced foundation elements that suit all reef aquarium types and especially SPS-dominated tanks, where a moderate alkalinity pairs with daily dosing.

Red Sea makes the salt from sodium chloride harvested by solar evaporation of Red Sea water, which carries 45 naturally occurring elements and forms over 72 per cent of the mix, with the full complement of trace elements blended in and every batch verified by ICP analysis. It contains no nitrates or phosphates and no chemical binders, and dissolves in about 20 minutes. The resealable bucket keeps the dry salt from clumping between changes, and the mixing method is RO water at or below 20 °C, salt added to water, a submerged pump without aeration for 0.5 to 2 hours, then warming to 25 °C.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Nano and small reefs: Tanks of 30 to 150 L on 10 per cent weekly water changes.
  • Starting a marine tank: Natural-level foundation elements for a first fill and cycling.
  • Fish-only systems: Where the raised elements of Coral Pro are not needed.
  • Quarantine and dip water: A small bucket kept for hospital tanks and acclimation.

Mixing Guide

  • Weigh for the volume: About 7 kg makes 210 L; mix only what is needed for the change.
  • Cool RO water first: Add salt to water at or below 20 °C and mix with a submerged pump, no air, for 0.5 to 2 hours.
  • Warm and test: Bring to 25 °C and read salinity on a seawater refractometer; pH should be 8.2 to 8.5.
  • Store sensibly: Mixed water sealed and dark for up to a week; lid closed on the bucket between uses.
