A reef tank needs more hardware than a freshwater one, and buying a skimmer, heater, filter and light separately for a small cube adds up quickly in cost and in cables. NanoReef 80 Marine Aquarium 80l 45 X 45 X 45cm (SKU: 53447) is Aqua One’s complete 80 litre marine aquarium set, a 45 cm cube of Opticlear glass with removable glass lids, supplied with an LED light, an integrated filter, a protein skimmer and a glass heater. Aqua One lists it as suitable for marine and coral keeping. The filter provides biological, chemical and mechanical filtration, the skimmer removes organic waste to keep the water clean and clear, and the heater offers easy, accurate thermostat adjustment.

The LED unit dims when its touch switch is held down, and a fourth setting brings in blue light from the centre of the unit to show off the corals and fish. Its panel is silicone-coated to protect against water build-up. The glass lids lift off for feeding, testing and maintenance. Because the cube is as deep as it is high, there is room for rockwork with open water above it.
