Description

Fluval AquaClear AC Surface Skimmer Unit Large — Surface extraction for AquaClear 70 and 110 hang-on power filters

The Fluval AquaClear AC Surface Skimmer Unit Large (SKU: FAQ09) is a specialised surface extraction attachment built specifically for high-capacity AquaClear 70 and AquaClear 110 Hang-On Power Filters. Designed to skim organic oil films, proteins, and floating debris off the surface layer, this heavy-duty unit ensures an optically clear water-to-air interface.

Featuring a floating intake grill that automatically moves with shifting water levels, it prevents surface crust formation while maintaining strong water circulation down through the filter media basket.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Large Tank Surface Scum Removal: Clears thick surface oil films in large planted, marine, or freshwater aquariums.

  • Maximising Aeration: Eliminates surface tension barriers to facilitate optimal gas exchange in high-turnover tanks.

How to Use / Installation Process

  1. Disconnect power to the filter and remove the standard intake pipe extension.

  2. Attach the Large Surface Skimmer assembly to the intake tube of the AC70 or AC110 filter.

  3. Affix the skimmer body to the internal glass using the heavy-duty suction cup.

  4. Power on the filter and fine-tune the intake control screw to set the desired skimming intensity.
