An air pump is only as good as the seal around its chamber, and a hardened gasket leaks pressure that the pump has already paid for. Schego M2k3/ws3 Air Chamber Gasket (2) (SKU: SH746) is a pack of two replacement air chamber gaskets for the Schego M2K3 and WS3 air pumps. A gasket in this position seals the joint between the chamber and the rest of the pump head, so that the air pushed by the diaphragm leaves through the outlet rather than leaking out of the joint. Two gaskets are supplied in the pack.

Leakage matters most on the WS3, which Schego rates for a pressure of at least 3 m of water column and an output of 350 L/h at 5 W, because a pump built for back-pressure loses the most when its seals are poor. The M2K3 is listed at 300 L/h with no head and 260 L/h at 0.5 m, with a maximum head of 2.0 m, and the same logic applies on a smaller scale. Signs of a failed gasket are a hissing sound around the pump head, a pump that is weaker than it was and not improved by changing the felt, and a stroke that sounds normal but delivers little.
