Description

Schego M2k3/ws3 Reed Arm W/- Magnet — Replacement vibrating arm and magnet for Schego M2K3 and WS3 pumps

A pump that rattles like a loose tin is often the arm, and in an M2K3 the arm is what turns mains hum into airflow. Schego M2k3/ws3 Reed Arm W/- Magnet (SKU: SH745) is the replacement reed arm with magnet for the Schego M2K3 and WS3 air pumps. The coil creates an alternating magnetic field, and the magnet on the arm follows it, swinging the arm back and forth at mains frequency. That swing is passed to the diaphragm, so a bent, cracked or demagnetised arm leaves a pump with a good coil and a good membrane that still cannot move air.

The M2K3 is listed at 300 L/h with no head and 260 L/h at 0.5 m, a maximum head of 2.0 m, 46 dBA and a case of about 170 × 75 × 60 mm. The WS3 is the higher-pressure version at 350 L/h and 5 W, with Schego giving its pressure as at least 3 m of water column and a 1 m cable. Both have an adjustable air output. For an arm swap, Schego’s published procedure for the related Prima shows the order of work: unplug, open the housing, undo the armature screws, lift the armature off, and on reassembly leave a gap of about 1 mm between magnet and coil. The Prima is a smaller pump, so that figure is a guide to the care needed rather than a specification for the M2K3 or WS3, and the correct gap for these models is not published. A cracked head or a hardened diaphragm calls for the chamber kit (SH743) or the diaphragm set (SH742) instead.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Rattling pump: A loose or distorted arm clatters against the housing.
  • Weak or uneven stroke: Coil and diaphragm are fine but delivery is low.
  • After mishandling: A pump dropped in transit or on a shelf may have a bent arm.
  • Full rebuild: Fitted with a coil and head kit when overhauling an old M2K3 or WS3.

Installation & Replacement Guide

  • Unplug: Disconnect the mains plug and airline.
  • Open the housing: Remove the cover and the pump head to expose the arm.
  • Change the arm: Undo the arm’s fixings, lift it off and fit the new arm the same way round.
  • Set the clearance: Keep a small, even gap between magnet and coil, then test the pump closed up.
